Touching Lives.....

James Wan Represent as Caring Ambassador and Support PLWHA

The International AIDS Candlelight Memorial is one of the world's largest grassroots movements against HIV and AIDS, spreading hope, developing leaders, and uniting communities. The Candlelight Memorial is coordinated by the Global Network of People living with HIV. Tens of thousands of people worldwide will light a candle on occasion of the 28th International AIDS Candlelight Memorial. Community-based organizations in some 115 countries will use the event to remember those who have lost their lives to AIDS-related illnesses, to support those living with HIV and affected by its impact and to spur calls to action for greater awareness.

On Saturday 14 May 2011, Taiwan Lourdes association coordinated the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial at the New Taipei City and invited the pop icon James Wan as the event's Caring Ambassador who take practical action to hug those who are infected with HIV and lights the candles of love and hope with all the participants. Wan says "In Taiwan, there is one new HIV infected case every 5 hours, but these people they never giving up their life and fighting for their dreams, that’s what really moved me. I hope everyone can have the correct knowledge about HIV/AIDS, accept these people with genuineness and let them know they are not alone". At the event, two HIV infected peer advocators hope that through the Candlelight Memorial, people will not be suffered from HIV/AIDS anymore and wish that everyone can learn how to live peacefully with HIV/AIDS. Accompany with those PLWHA to create a road full of joy and hope.
Now there are over 60 million people were infected with HIV and Taiwan just exceeded 20 thousand people living with HIV and AIDS at the end of year 2010
