所謂社會性死亡（Social death），指的是人被社會集體忽視、孤立或隔離。愛滋感染者承受著的不僅僅是疾病帶來的適應困擾，還有不利於感染者生存處境的隱性傷害。許多愛滋感染者擔憂著身分曝光所帶來的負面影響，包含工作被資遣、就醫被拒絕、長照機構拒收，這些被排除的經驗如同社會性死亡一般，伴隨著許多愛滋感染者數十年。
台灣進入「高齡社會」之際，如何維護高齡人口的生活品質與尊嚴，是政府持續努力的重要目標。根據台灣露德協會每年愛滋感染者生活品質暨生活現況調查，75%的愛滋感染者擔心會被照顧相關機構拒絕。而在露德實務經驗中，並非所有醫療體系、長照資源都十分友善，幫愛滋朋友媒合資源時，往往四處碰壁，花費許多心力。
愛滋、藥癮、同志這三個標籤凝聚了社會偏見與歧視於一身；你曾好奇，標籤下的人過著甚麼樣的人生呢？聆聽被標籤者的心聲及標籤下的生活；體會在偏見之下，勇敢活下去的勇氣。未竟之地代表著未完成的使命，是對社會問題的關注和希望；是期待社會改革與創新，以實現更美好的未來。
The concept of social death refers to individuals being collectively ignored, isolated, or marginalized by society. People living with HIV/AIDS not only struggle with the challenges posed by the disease but also face hidden damages that hinder their survival in society. Many individuals with HIV/AIDS worry about the negative repercussions of disclosing their status, including job termination, denial of medical care, and exclusion from long-term care facilities. These experiences of exclusion are akin to a form of social death and accompany many HIV/AIDS patients for decades.
As Taiwan transitions into an "aging society," maintaining the quality of life and dignity of the elderly population is an ongoing government priority. According to the annual Quality of Life and Living Conditions Survey conducted by the Taiwan Lourdes Association, 75% of HIV-infected individuals fear rejection by care-related institutions. In practical experience, not all healthcare systems and long-term care resources are equally accommodating, making it challenging to connect HIV-positive individuals with necessary resources, often requiring significant effort.
The labels of HIV/AIDS, drug abuse, and LGBTQ identities are tied with societal biases and discrimination. Have you ever wondered about the lives under these labels? Listen to the voices of the labeled individuals and understand their experiences. Appreciate the courage it takes to live beneath the weight of prejudice. Uncharted Territory represents an unfinished mission, reflecting concerns for social issues and hope for societal reform and innovation to achieve a better future.
